When Izabella Lambert turned 16, she knew exactly what she wanted to do — take a first step toward becoming a first responder and police officer via the emergency medical technician course at Region 10 Technical High School in Brunswick.

In October 2025, members of the Harpswell Historical Society had a discussion with town leaders and agreed to work together to plan a townwide celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

As plans come together for Harpswell's celebration of America's 250th birthday, several events are approaching for those who like music, architecture, gardens, food and Harpswell stories.

The Orr's and Bailey Islands Fire Department is offering an opportunity to order a commemorative paver as a way to show support. The pavers are being installed along the front walkway to the Orr's Island Schoolhouse.
