Harpswell Community Television seeks input during transition

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Harpswell Community Television is undergoing major changes to ensure its sustainability as a community resource.

Staffing: After more than 26 years as station manager, Donna (Frisoli) Chipman has announced her decision to leave Harpswell Community TV. Chipman’s dedication to broadcasting from the community, for the community; her skills as a videographer and video editor; and her responsibility for programming, managing the office, and interacting with the Federal Communications Commission and other agencies will make her hard to replace.

HCTV has initiated the search for a new staff member to take over Chipman’s duties as she moves into retirement. Please contact us at harpswelltv@yahoo.com if you are interested in applying.

Hardware: HCTV is in the process of upgrading its equipment with a new server, switcher and video monitor to keep its signal in line with new digital protocols while maintaining its over-the-air broadcasting. The station will add other equipment as needed.

Programming: To align our offerings with evolving needs, HCTV has created a questionnaire to collect input from the community. We have conducted interviews with other Harpswell nonprofits, but we would appreciate comments and suggestions from individual viewers or current non-viewers about the programs and services they would like to see, or see more of, from HCTV. Please go to tinyurl.com/hctvsurvey or use the QR code to view the questionnaire.

Broadening participation: In addition to seeking a new station manager, HCTV invites members of the community to get involved. Bring your ideas and energy and join us. We are looking for board members with experience in public broadcasting, communications or nonprofit management, as well as volunteer community reporters, videographers or program developers to help us serve you and your neighbors better. Contact us at harpswelltv@yahoo.com.
