The Mingo Club, of Bailey Island, invites you to join us at our annual ice cream social in celebration of two birthdays — our country’s 250th and the event’s 50th. The event will take place on the Fourth of July from 2-4 p.m., rain or shine.
Originally called the Strawberry Festival, the event has been a favorite of the community and summer visitors for a half-century, and with good reason. The location is perfect — historic Library Hall in the heart of Bailey Island, with its outstanding view of beautiful Mackerel Cove — and so are the fresh-picked strawberries, home-baked brownies, homemade chocolate sauce, ice cream (of course) and many yummy toppings. It’s the perfect Fourth of July indulgence.
There will be fun for the young ones and the young at heart. When was the last time you hummed patriotic tunes into a kazoo? These simple musical instruments are the most exciting aspect of the event for children, who are delighted to learn they can take one home — and drive their family and neighbors crazy! Just kidding!
Your donation of any amount covers your ice cream treats, but more importantly, your donation supports the Mingo Club’s annual grants for local graduates, Harpswell Community School literacy programs, and maintenance of Library Hall.
Mingo Club members thank you in advance for your generous support of this special event! We look forward to seeing you on the Fourth!
