Mingo Club

The Mingo Club, of Bailey Island, is dedicated to supporting the future of Harpswell's young people. The club gives grants of $1,000 to high school seniors in Harpswell to allow them to pursue successful careers through postsecondary education or training, including the cost of obtaining licenses. The 2026 winners were Savannah Gates and Julianna Allen.

The Mingo Club, of Bailey Island, invites you to join us at our annual ice cream social in celebration of two birthdays — our country's 250th and the event's 50th. The event will take place on the Fourth of July from 2-4 p.m., rain or shine.

The Mingo Club, of Bailey Island, awarded $1,000 grants to three Harpswell students in 2025: Kira Chown, Molly Greenleaf, and Elisabeth Kelly.

The Mingo Club was formed in 1906 by a group of teenage girls who shared a love of books. In 1909, they decided to raise funds, primarily by holding entertainments and suppers, to build a library.
