The Orr’s and Bailey Islands Fire Department hosted a successful blood drive at the Orr’s Island Schoolhouse on May 29.

Two board members at the fire department, Melinda Richter and Beth York, worked with the American Red Cross to organize the drive. The Red Cross was extremely pleased with the number of units collected.

“On behalf of the patients in our community, please pass along our sincere thanks to everyone who donated,” said Geoff Allen, account manager for donor recruitment in Maine.

OBIFD plans to host another blood drive at the schoolhouse in September.
