A team of Harpswell residents has created "Maine Matters: Our Energy Future," a 40-minute interview with Seth Berry, of Pine Tree Power, to air on Harpswell Community Television.

Harpswell resident Hannah Clemons, an accounting major, graduated cum laude from the University of Maine at Orono on May 6. Clemons attended West Harpswell School, Harpswell Community School, Mt. Ararat Middle School and Mt. Ararat High School.

The Sebascodegan Artists Cooperative's annual exhibit will move to a new location this year: the Orr's Island Schoolhouse, where the show will run from Aug. 3-19.

Harpswell Community Garden is conducting a survey, now available online. Residents' responses to the roughly five-minute survey will help the Community Garden review its services and determine how best to serve Harpswell.

As an early member of Harpswell Aging at Home, Beverly Prosser Gelwick helped bring the Neighbors Connecting program to life. She became a caller for the program, which seeks to keep Harpswell's older residents socially connected.

Oh, purple loosestrife, why must you be so beautiful? With your strong, square-stemmed, upright posture peeking above the plants around you, wearing your cheerful, purple-flowered covering, is it because you're beautiful that you feel you can be rude and crowd out your neighbors?

Three Harpswell students were named to the dean's lists at their universities for the spring semester, according to school announcements.

To thank the community for its years of support, the Orr's and Bailey Islands Fire Department is inviting everyone to an all-day celebration on Saturday, July 29.

Harpswell Heritage Land Trust closed on the new Anna M. Tondreau Preserve on June 12. The property will be the Land Trust's 19th preserve with public access in Harpswell.

Friends of Casco Bay is beginning its 31st year of collecting seasonal water quality data. The monitoring program assesses water quality at more than 20 locations in the bay, including locations in Harpswell waters. The initiative will begin testing for PFAS contamination in Casco Bay this year, in collaboration with the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences.
