Need another reason to believe we live in a great community? Well, here’s my Harpswell story: My husband and I were taking our 17-foot Boston Whaler out for the season on a beautiful early October morning.

Harpswell is part of Maine School Administrative District 75, composed of four towns — Harpswell, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham and Topsham. The school board responsible for what happens in our district is made up of members from each of the four towns.

School boards have a challenging role to play in the midst of a pandemic complicated by politicization of public health measures like vaccination and mask-wearing.

I quite enjoyed reading Brian Hirst’s letter (“Moratorium on subdivision development needed,” August).

As Harpswell Coastal Academy heads into its ninth year as a school, we want to introduce ourselves to some and reintroduce ourselves to others.

I am one of several people who have contributed a lot of time in developing Harpswell Heritage Land Trust’s Forest Playground, and I have grandkids (and my kids) who love this addition to the HHLT trails.
