Do you know there is a right and wrong side of the roadway to walk on? If you are walking with traffic, with vehicles coming up behind you, you are on the wrong side! Please always walk against the flow of traffic, so you can see the vehicles coming at you.

Fall is my favorite season. I love the crisp air, the beauty of the changing leaves, and the return of cozy sweaters. For me, the first day of fall isn't marked by the calendar, but by Starbucks announcing the launch of its pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin-flavored iced coffees.

Now that it's October, one of my yearly tasks is to take down my gardens and clean them out. I usually use compost and mulch to prepare them for the winter. The only plants I leave in place are my blooming flowers and my precious tomatoes.

At the very start, Maine held state elections in September, not November, and not in sync with federal elections and other states' schedules. Maine considered the timing of the harvest and the frigid winds of winter.

No, I did not know. Instead of knee-deep into the refrigerator, Allison is head-deep. I am behind her, sitting at the kitchen counter and checking the weather on my phone. It's supposed to be 73 today and sunny. Just right!

The normal Sunday service was held at our church in Cundy's Harbor that day. The only aspect of it that suggested this was not a normal Sunday was that it started an hour earlier than usual.
