Harpswell Fire Administrator Mike Drake, a lifelong firefighter and leader at multiple departments on the Midcoast, died unexpectedly last weekend at the age of 52.

The town of Harpswell has chosen interim Harbormaster Darcie Couture to serve in the role permanently, after soliciting applications and conducting interviews for the position.

Work is underway to replace the town dock at Potts Point, which was destroyed by back-to-back storms in January 2024, with a more resilient structure.
