Bath Rotary offers grants to local nonprofits

The Rotary Club of Bath is once again encouraging nonprofit charitable organizations to submit applications for Community Service Grants.

It’s often a juggling act for nonprofits to direct limited funds in a way that benefits those who need help most. Many times a few thousand dollars can be enough to expand a critically needed service. For that reason, the club distributes money every year to several nonprofit organizations that reach out to people who need a helping hand.

Up to $10,000 has been designated for grants this year. Since 1919, the Bath Rotary Club has raised money for basic needs like food, clothing and education. While continuing to meet those needs, the club expanded its mission over the next 100-plus years to meet new challenges in Bath and surrounding communities.

In the last few years, Rotary members have awarded volunteer time and grants to the Bath Area BackPack Program, the Bath Area YMCA, Bath Parks and Recreation, Best Buddies at Morse High School, the Midcoast Youth Center, The Salvation Army’s bell-ringing campaign, and Woolwich Central School’s Odyssey of the Mind team. The program is open to Harpswell organizations.

The deadline for submitting applications is Dec. 31. Application forms are available on the club’s website, bathrotary.org. For more information, email bathrotary@gmail.com.
