Response to ‘Silver Linings’

This beautifully written piece by Erin O’Mara shares a personal journey of loss of one dear to her to cancer. “Her friendship was a treasure,” she touchingly describes, “as tangible and precious as something I could hold in my hands.”

Those of us who know of this experience realize that we can’t lose that which we never owned. But there is a great missing that registers in the heart. With time this missingness may be replaced by fond memories, and this, perhaps, is the only “silver lining.”
