The grand opening of the Harpswell Collective, a gallery and studio space in the former Estes Lobster House, attracted hundreds of curious visitors during the third annual Harpswell Open Studio Tour on July 18 and 19.

"History has a bad reputation of being boring," 17-year-old reenactor Addie Miller said. That wasn't so during Harpswell's Colonial Days celebration from July 16-18.

There's no better time at Harpswell Community School than a Wednesday afternoon as the school year draws to a close. For four weeks in May and June, community volunteers bring their skills to the elementary school at 2:30 p.m. each Wednesday to offer students hands-on learning opportunities.

There was steady rain throughout Memorial Day observances in Harpswell this year, but roughly 50 people turned out with raincoats and umbrellas to watch the parade and ceremony in Harpswell Center.

When Elijah Kellogg Church asked the Rev. Joseph Connolly to serve as interim pastor, neither the church nor Connolly expected the temporary post to last four years.
