Harpswell voters will elect a tax collector and town clerk for three-year terms on March 12, with one choice on the ballot for each position.

Jane Covey will seek a second three-year term on the Harpswell Board of Selectmen at the March 12 election, the sole candidate for the position.

Harpswell Animal Control Officer Gail Federico will resign May 15 after nearly seven years in the role. "It has been a pleasure serving the residents of Harpswell and working with the staff at the town office," Federico said in a resignation letter dated Feb. 7.

A $10,825 donation from Cook's Lobster & Ale House will help the town of Harpswell provide heating assistance to residents.

The 14 members of the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2022 include Adrienne Shibles, who lived in Harpswell for 13 years while coaching women's basketball at Bowdoin College.

At the town election on March 12, Harpswell voters will choose either Ryan Larsen or Tyler Washburn to serve a three-year term on the Maine School Administrative District 75 Board of Directors.

The town is soliciting feedback on a proposal for several changes to streetlight locations. The town will convert its streetlights to more efficient and longer-lasting LED lights this year, a project expected to reduce costs for energy and maintenance.

A town airboat on loan for the Sebago Lake Ice Fishing Derby aided in the rescue of a man who drove his side-by-side into open water the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 20.

A Harpswell man and his passenger escaped injury when his SUV crashed into Cranberry Horn Cemetery, where it rolled onto its side and burst into flames, late Saturday, Feb. 19.
