The 14 members of the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2022 include Adrienne Shibles, who lived in Harpswell for 13 years while coaching women’s basketball at Bowdoin College.
Shibles is the winningest coach in the history of Bowdoin College women’s basketball, with a record of 281-65, according to the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame. She led the Polar Bears to two New England Small College Athletic Conference championships and back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division III title game.
She was the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division III Coach of the Year in 2019. She left Bowdoin in 2021 to coach women’s basketball at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
Shibles played for Mount View High School in Waldo County before becoming a 1,000-point scorer at Bates College in Lewiston. As a coach, she won 138 games at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania before landing at Bowdoin.
The Maine Basketball Hall of Fame will honor the inductees in an August ceremony at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
