The Islands Community Church, on Bailey Island, delighted locals with the sounds of woodwinds at its first-ever holiday concert on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The concert featured performances by the Midcoast High Winds Flute Choir, led by Carolyn Lanigan, and Midcoast clarinet ensemble The Clarinotes, led by David Collier.

The concert also featured an audience singalong of holiday favorites led by Dan Hoebeke and Ed Striewski, the church’s music director.

The event was dedicated to four beloved members of the church choir who died recently: Joyce Caldwell, Susan Ferraro, Harold “Bud” Edwards and Frank Orlando. The concert was funded by donations made in their names.

An organizer of the concert, Janet Alexander, said the free show was the first of many such events the church plans to present in the future.
