Organizers of the Harpswell Santa Fund hosted an all-day fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 2, and they plan to make it an annual tradition.

Organized by local residents including Pammy Douglas, Jodi Wallace and Evan Weston, the event was held jointly at Pammy’s Ice Cream Parlor and the adjacent Harpswell Neck Fire and Rescue station.

The fundraiser featured a bake sale and Christmas tree and wreath sale sponsored by Pam’s Wreaths, along with food and beverages including hot dogs and hot cocoa. There were activities for kids such as face-painting, cookie-decorating and ornament-making.

The Santa Fund will hold another event on Sunday, Dec. 10, that will feature a mini-brunch as well as an opportunity for kids to meet Santa Claus. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Merriconeag Grange, 529 Harpswell Neck Road, Harpswell. The location has been changed from The School House 1913, which is closed after a fire in an apartment above the restaurant on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The Santa Fund is accepting donations of new toys and clothing, as well as cash. Donations can be dropped off at Elijah Kellogg Church, Harpswell Realty Group, the Harpswell Town Office, Orr’s Island Library, Pam’s Wreaths and Watson’s General Store. For more information, visit harpswellsanta.org.
