Pick up after your dog

This letter is to remind dog owners that Mitchell Field is a “pick-up-after-your-dog park.” The town of Harpswell provides you with free doggie bags in two locations: one at the top of the park and one at the bottom. You can deposit the waste in the bins attached. Members of the Mitchell Field Committee maintain these stations for your convenience.

Dog waste is not fertilizer. It contains bacteria, including E. coli. The park slopes gently down to the bay and the beach. With climate change and more severe storms, there is the danger of dog waste being washed down to the bay and the beach.

Mitchell Field has two rules that apply to dog owners: Pick up after your dog and leash your dog from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. We appreciate your cooperation.

Katherine Goodrich, Mitchell Field Committee

Our disaster action team members respond at a moment's notice to comfort these families, providing critical care after the unimaginable happens.
