Plots available at Community Garden

The Harpswell Community Garden, at George J. Mitchell Field, has plots available for rent for the 2023 season.

The organic garden offers an opportunity for local gardeners who lack space or sunlight, as well as those who want to join a community of gardeners.

There are water spigots throughout the garden, which also boasts a solar-powered well, a storage shed with communal tools, and on-site composting. Individuals and groups are welcome to rent plots to grow their own produce and flowers.

Plots are also available for groups to grow produce for fundraising or donation to community programs. Rental fees are waived for those growing food for donation, and for others on a needs basis.

To sign up, go to harpswell.maine.gov/community-garden.

Volunteers help residents with tech issues

Navigating the many changes in technology, devices, software and the cloud can be confusing, even frustrating, for a generation not raised with computers and smartphones. In addition to tech assistance available at Repair Cafe events, members of the Harpswell Aging at Home Tech Assistance Team have been quietly working with residents to help them maintain their devices and safely take advantage of all technology has to offer.
