Kellogg Church names Carson pastor emeritus

On June 5, the congregation of Elijah Kellogg Church in Harpswell Center celebrated Pastor John Carson’s decade of leadership, while wishing him well in retirement.

Church member Bill Greenwood presented Carson with a plaque signed by the church’s Congregational Council, awarding him the title of pastor emeritus. The message read, in part: “We believe the Lord used you and your family to accomplish a work only you could have done. You led in truth, battled for the truth, taught the truth, and preached the truth with love and compassion.” After the service, members gathered for a luncheon.

Carson, of Harpswell Neck, retired after four decades of ministry within the Congregational Church, including the last 10 years at Elijah Kellogg.
