Volunteers for search team to meet

Volunteers for a search-and-rescue team will meet and participate in their first training at the Cundy’s Harbor Community Hall at 10 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 28.

Organizers will answer volunteers’ questions and conduct a map-and-compass training session. Volunteers should bring a notebook and a pen or pencil.

Harpswell resident Gareth S. Anderson, retired coordinator of the Maine Warden Service’s search-and-rescue operations, is the founder of the team. A November announcement of his effort to establish a search-and-rescue team in Harpswell met with significant interest from volunteers.

Lunch will be provided, as well as coffee and tea. For more information, call Anderson at 207-833-2320.
