Harpswell Neck Fire and Rescue wants everyone in the community to enjoy a safe and festive holiday season. A little knowledge about common holiday mishaps can help you avoid a big disruption to your celebrations.

Regular readers of the Anchor will be familiar with a series of articles appearing over the past five months designed to increase public awareness and understanding of the town's draft comprehensive plan.

Since its inception in 2015, Harpswell Aging at Home has been a community-led organization committed to helping people thrive while aging at home. However, recognizing that some people may need or wish to consider different living arrangements, HAH recently added a Home Transitions Program to the litany of services it offers.

The Mingo Club was formed in 1906 by a group of teenage girls who shared a love of books. In 1909, they decided to raise funds, primarily by holding entertainments and suppers, to build a library.

The Harpswell Conservation Commission will hold a public workshop about water conservation, "Be Water Wiser: Preserving Harpswell's Water Supply," at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Harpswell Community School.

The Nor'easters Barbershop Chorus invites all men who like to sing and can sing reasonably well to join the chorus for the Christmas season. The chorus will sing at various Midcoast locations during December, bringing cheer to many.

Harpswell Aging at Home recently received a grant from Lifelong Maine, a program of the University of Maine Center on Aging. This funding is enabling us to provide more resources to our older neighbors in Harpswell.
