HAH’s impact ripples beyond Harpswell

How does a spark from one Maine community become a successful model for others? What is it about Harpswell Aging at Home that enables it to produce ripples beyond our own community? The flow of ideas and collaboration expands outward from Harpswell to support new endeavors while strengthening our own programs.

A burning issue

Burning bush is an iconic shrub in the New England area. When driving through Harpswell in the fall, one sees innumerable examples of its stunning beauty. The bright red foliage of a burning bush complements many houses and their surrounding landscapes. The many visible benefits of burning bush obscure its negative ecological impact, which is so stark that it is no longer sold in Maine.

Final draft of comprehensive plan ready for vote

Following the last public hearing about Harpswell's draft comprehensive plan on Aug. 16 at Harpswell Community School, the Comprehensive Plan Task Force met to consider the public comments made during the hearing and decide whether major changes to the plan were needed. The task force determined no major changes were required and forwarded the draft to the town for publication and distribution.
