Harpswell Comprehensive Plan Task Force

After months of study, discussion, and public outreach, the Harpswell Comprehensive Plan Task Force is planning to present the comprehensive plan draft to the community for approval at an in-person Special Town Meeting in early May (date TBD), instead of the regular Town Meeting in March.

The Harpswell Comprehensive Plan Task Force will host three information sessions in March to review the plan, answer questions and gather comments.

Over the past six weeks, the Harpswell Comprehensive Plan Task Force has sponsored three workshops on issues important to the town's future: natural resources, the working waterfront, and current land use.

The goal of the comprehensive plan is to help the town make decisions on everything from recreational space to housing, so it's important for the plan to capture the needs of residents.

The town of Harpswell is working on a comprehensive plan. This important community document will guide future development, capital spending, programming, and most other aspects of the community for the foreseeable future.

In November 2021, the Harpswell Board of Selectmen established a Comprehensive Plan Task Force to update the town's comprehensive plan and articulate a vision and action plan for the community's next decade or more.
