Tedford Housing, a Brunswick-based nonprofit with a mission to empower people to move from homelessness to home, was recently awarded a $250,000 Housing for Everyone grant from the TD Charitable Foundation, the giving arm of TD Bank U.S.
Tedford Housing is one of 40 nonprofit organizations across TD’s footprint to receive funding through the 20th annual Housing for Everyone grant program, which supports solutions that foster early intervention, advance housing stability, and decisively address housing challenges for renters in low- to moderate-income communities.
Housing instability remains a critical issue for individuals and families nationwide, driven by rising living costs, financial hardship and challenges navigating housing systems. In recognition of the program’s 20th anniversary and its long-standing commitment to housing affordability, the TD Charitable Foundation awarded $10 million in total grants in 2026, its largest Housing for Everyone investment to date, to support organizations focused on preventing eviction and promoting long-term housing stability.
This year’s Housing for Everyone grantees were selected for their proactive approaches to eviction prevention and housing stabilization, which help individuals and families remain housed, reduce financial stress and strengthen communities.
Through this grant, Tedford Housing will expand its homelessness prevention and outreach program to provide past-due rental assistance and personalized case management to low-income households at imminent risk of eviction across the Midcoast. By stepping in early, Tedford helps stabilize housing situations before they escalate into homelessness.
Case managers work alongside participants for up to six months — supporting budgeting, employment, landlord communication and connections to critical resources like food, childcare and legal aid. With this funding, Tedford expects to significantly increase the number of households served, helping more neighbors remain safely housed and avoid the financial and emotional toll of displacement.
“Every day, we see how hard people are working just to stay housed — stretching already thin budgets, making impossible trade-offs and still sometimes falling behind,” said Andrew Lardie, executive director of Tedford Housing. “This funding allows us to step in at that critical moment, before a setback becomes a crisis. It gives us the ability to stabilize real households and make sure that falling behind doesn’t mean losing your home.”
“Long-term housing stability is essential to financial security and overall well-being, which is why we are proud to support the important work of Tedford Housing through the Housing for Everyone grant program,” said Paige Carlson-Heim, head of social impact at TD and director of the TD Charitable Foundation. “By delivering early, service-based solutions that help renters avoid eviction, this organization is reducing disruption, strengthening resilience, and creating a foundation for individuals and families to thrive.”
The TD Charitable Foundation’s Housing for Everyone grant program highlights TD’s enduring dedication to building stronger communities through stable, affordable housing. Since its inception in 2005, the program has invested more than $73 million, supporting more than 675 affordable housing projects from Maine to Florida.
