Highly recommend local chef

We were in Alaska with family in June when a local restaurant called to tell us our dinner reservation for 18 to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary was being canceled because they were closing. I had noticed a column in the Anchor by a new catering chef (“Harpswell’s Private Chef”) and called your wonderful development officer, Janice Thompson, who directed me to Amanda Palma.

We need to sing Amanda’s praises for an imaginative and special dinner for 17 prepared at our home on Aug. 14. Her selections were wonderful and her timing perfect. After a lavish meal, with soup, lobster, chicken, a lemon dessert, etc., she cleaned up everything. We highly recommend her services to your readers.

Free up the waterfront

On June 10, the voters of Harpswell have the opportunity to weigh in on whether the administration building — the large, Cold War-era building at the Mitchell Field waterfront — should finally be removed. The question on the secret ballot calls for the removal of hazardous materials in the building, including lead, asbestos, arsenic, PCBs and other toxins, before demolishing the building and hauling away the debris.
