Station a win-win proposition

I’m writing to support the proposed central fire and rescue station. The benefits from both a cost and service perspective will provide the basis for improved emergency services over coming decades.

The aging of our active firefighters and the process to train new members, as pointed out by Chief Benjamin Wallace Jr., present a challenge without a short-term solution. Adding professional firefighters will alleviate that gap.

From a financial perspective, although estimates can be tricky, the difference between upgrading existing stations and a new station is slight, with only a minimal impact on taxes. I see this as a win-win proposition and I urge all to support the initiative.

Read comp plan before voting

As you may have heard, the revised comprehensive plan is now available online. I strongly suggest that people read it before voting at Town Meeting in March. Know what you are getting, and what you are voting for or against.
