By Jerry Klepner and Connie Sage Conner: Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Harpswell has raised more than $100,000 to help the people of Ukraine. Urgently needed items such as used vehicles and hospital maternity equipment were delivered to our friends in Chuhuiv in 2023 and 2024.

On Sept. 27, approximately 28 "Voter ID for ME" signs were legally placed in Harpswell. As of this writing, almost all of them have been defaced with swastikas or black marker changing the number in Question 1 to an 8. After the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office was notified, most of the swastika signs were removed.

We are astonished by the response to our first Harpswell Open Studio Tour, from both the community and the artists! The event was well attended, far beyond our expectations.

Kudos to the Comprehensive Plan Task Force for their hard work. At their public meetings, they have listened to Harpswell citizens and continued to tweak the plan to reflect feedback.
