Local student makes dean’s list

Kaylynn Laplante, of Harpswell, has been named to the dean’s list for the 2024 fall semester at the University of New England. Students on the dean’s list have attained a grade-point average of 3.3 or better out of a possible 4.0.

The University of New England is Maine’s largest independent university, with coastal campuses in Biddeford and Portland, as well as online offerings and a study-abroad campus in Tangier, Morocco.

Harpswell to hold Coastal Cleanup Day

Harpswell will hold a Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. While marine debris is typically the responsibility of landowners, on this day, the town will facilitate a collection and drop-off of marine debris to keep its 216 miles of shoreline and its inland waters clean.

Local student earns honors

A Harpswell student has been named to the dean's list at Fairfield University in Connecticut. Jasmine Huntsman earned the honor for the spring semester. To make the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.5 or better for the semester.
