A newcomer to Harpswell has launched an independent agency dedicated to providing outsourced “virtual assistant” services to small businesses. Such agencies typically employ or contract with workers to perform a variety of tasks remotely.

Allison Boisvert, who moved to Harpswell from New Hampshire in 2023, announced the launch of Midcoast Virtual Solutions in a news release issued Wednesday, May 1. The agency offers services such as managing social media, search engine optimization, website design and management, project oversight and administrative duties, it said.

“The value of time and efficiency to a small business cannot be overstated,” Boisvert said in the release. “Engaging a virtual assistant isn’t an expense, but a strategic move that brings substantial returns. Taking time-consuming tasks off a small business owner’s plate allows them to spend time growing their business.”

Boisvert has two decades of experience in business operations, technology and project management, according to the release. Her resume includes analyst and management roles at Fidelity Investments prior to striking out on her own.
