Frank Wright has been the one.

He’s been the one volunteering to read aloud “The Hobbit” in your child’s classroom to an audience captivated by his character voices.

He’s been the one showing up every Wednesday morning to teach your child how to play chess.

He’s been the one attending parent-teacher organization meetings, school events, and fundraisers, and helping out consistently with school field trips and Harpswell Swim.

He’s been your child’s cross-country coach, believing not just in the loudest, the strongest or the fastest, but also the quiet kid, the one who struggles, the one who isn’t used to being seen.

And, for the last five years, through COVID, gun violence and constant change, he’s been the one serving our community as a school board member and/or chair.

He’s been the one consistently investing his time and energy, even when that work felt uncomfortable, frustrating or sad.

This March, Frank Wright is again offering to serve as a Harpswell representative to our school board, and I’m going to vote for him because he’s been the one.
