Thank you to Harpswell

As my final term in the Maine Legislature draws to a close, I write to thank the people of Harpswell for allowing me to represent you in the Maine House for the last eight years. It has been the honor and privilege of a lifetime and I am so grateful for your support. Thank you too for allowing me to help when you ran into problems with state government or other organizations, or just talking through tough problems toward workable solutions.

What an amazing community we have! Having met so many people in all stages and ages of life through this work, my devotion to our community has only increased. Harpswell is made up of people who, together, comprise what is wonderful about our town — our fishing community members; families that have lived here for generations; people young and not so young who are new to town, drawn to the beauty of our area; people who contribute countless hours for our community’s well-being.

I also want to congratulate our new state representative, Cheryl Golek, and our returning senator, Mattie Daughtry. My sincere gratitude goes as well to all who ran in the local 2022 elections for respectful campaigns, proving that we can be civil as we seek public office.

Jay McCreight, Harpswell, former state representative of House District 51
