Plots available at Harpswell Community Garden

Harpswell Community Garden, at George J. Mitchell Field on Harpswell Neck, has 10-by-15 and 10-by-10 plots for rent for the 2022 season.

The organic garden offers an alternative for people who want to grow vegetables but lack space or sunlight, as well as those who want to join a community of gardeners. On-site well water and communal tools are available. Community members of all ages and abilities are welcome.

State deems comprehensive plan complete and consistent

After Harpswell voters approved a new comprehensive plan in November 2025, the town submitted its plan for state approval. The state notified the town that the plan needed minor changes before it could be deemed complete and consistent with Maine's Growth Management Act. These changes included updating older data and clarifying the town's request for an exemption from designating growth areas.
