Each year, the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program distributes bags of festive and nutritious Thanksgiving staples to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Harpswell Heritage Land Trust’s Nature Day Camp ran uninterrupted for 22 years, until COVID-19 struck and the land trust made the difficult decision to cancel its camps in 2020.

Harpswell is justly proud of the spirit of volunteerism exhibited by its residents, both year-round and seasonal. Even so, it's sometimes hard to muster the needed "person power" to do what needs to be done.

The Mingo Club, of Bailey Island, presented its Mingo Grant to two high school seniors earlier this year.

Harpswell has over 200 miles of coastline. From the long stretch of Harpswell Neck to the wiggly ins and outs of Quahog Bay, there is great variety.

It’s interesting to think about the changes that have taken place since Capt. John Stover built his house near the point that would eventually bear his name. At that time, the slopes were covered in tall trees that yielded valuable wood for masts, lumber and firewood.

Harpswell is a vibrant coastal community that is full of waterfront activity, culture and history. There is an amazing breadth of expertise and knowledge in the community that is worthy of being shared. To that end, a group of local organizations have come together to present a series of informal presentations entitled, “Living and Working in a Waterfront Community: A Conversation Series.”

After an 18-month hiatus owing to the coronavirus pandemic, Harpswell Aging at Home's Lunch with Friends will return in September.

Volunteers from Elijah Kellogg Church are sorting, cleaning and pricing donations in advance of the church's annual barn sale on Saturday, Aug. 28.

On Labor Day, Sept. 6, from 7:30-10 a.m., the Holbrook Community Foundation will host a community breakfast on the scenic Holbrook Wharf in Cundy's Harbor.
