The Harpswell Select Board has appointed a task force to examine the impact of short-term rentals and draft a policy. Nine members were chosen from among 29 applicants, demonstrating strong interest in how the town might regulate the growing industry.

The town will use a $50,000 grant from a state climate change program to design improvements for two roads where flooding could cut off residents from their homes and fishermen from town landings and wharves.

Harpswell voters were in step with the rest of the state on Tuesday, Nov. 7, opposing a public takeover of Maine's power companies while backing a "right to repair" for independent garages by wide margins.

The Harpswell Select Board has contracted R.A. Webber & Sons Inc., of Cundy's Harbor, to restore the Giant's Stairs Trail and parking areas for $8,884. The board approved the contract on Thursday, Sept. 28.

The town of Harpswell will explore a proposal to improve public access to Clark Cove via state land on Allen Point Road, although neighbors oppose the idea.

The Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program will open a satellite food pantry in a conference room at the Town Office.
