The Harpswell Select Board has selected Richmond-based contractor Wyman & Simpson Inc. to build a long-planned boat launch at town-owned George J. Mitchell Field for $1.55 million.

The Harpswell Select Board voted 3-0 on Thursday, Sept. 4, to send four local referendum questions to voters on a Nov. 4 ballot.

The estimated cost to renovate the main building at Harpswell's A. Dennis Moore Recycling Center & Transfer Station has increased to nearly $1.8 million ­— double the amount of a preliminary estimate just one year ago.

After nearly four years of work, Harpswell's Comprehensive Plan Task Force recently held what is likely to be the final public hearing on the proposed adoption of a new comprehensive plan for the town. About 40 residents attended.
