Harpswell Supports Ukraine

Harpswell volunteers will hold a fundraiser for war-torn Ukraine for the third year, this time to send money to the city of Chuhuiv to replace hospital equipment destroyed or damaged by Russian missiles.

The final tally is in: A total of $25,691 was raised by the Harpswell community in May to buy vehicles for the war-torn city of Chuhuiv, Ukraine.

More than 200 people, anxious to help war-torn Ukraine, turned out for a May 10 fundraiser to buy one or more badly needed vans for Chuhuiv, a small city near Kharkiv. Chuhuiv was targeted by Russia on the first day of the war, in February 2022.

Shocked and angered by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Harpswell residents raised more than $40,000 in April 2022 for three nonprofits to buy food and medical supplies and provide aid to children.
