Anne Taylor has to move quickly. She places a custom mold under the spigot of a tempering machine and a thick river of chocolate pours down to fill it. She scrapes off the excess with a spatula and bangs the mold on the edge of the machine.

It's a Tuesday evening at Pomelia and Kathryn Mitchell is expertly shuffling dishes at the pass, the metal counter that divides front of house and back of house at the downtown Brunswick eatery. She gives each dish a final check and brushes away an errant crumb before calling for service.

Figure skaters from around Maine performed in an exhibition on March 9, organized by two coaches from Harpswell, to honor the victims of American Airlines Flight 5342 and raise money for their families.

From Jan. 9-12, Midcoast Youth Theater's production of the musical "Oliver!" at the Crooker Theater in Brunswick showcased the talents of young actors from the area.

Twenty-two third graders from Maine Coast Waldorf School in Freeport donned life jackets and, in two groups of 11, boarded Dave Moody's lobster boat Britanica on Oct. 9. They were there to help Moody and first mate Angela Coron haul two six-trap trawls and to learn about the lobster industry from people who make their living on Harpswell's working waterfront.
