I stopped by the Harpswell Neck post office on the morning of Christmas Eve. I had a question on a delivery.
It was dark inside due to the power outage. I took a chance. The main door was unlocked, so I went in. The service desk was shuttered, but the side door was open. It was very dark inside the door. I looked in and saw the postal crew scurrying about in the dark, wearing headlamps, as in the L.L. Bean ad a few years ago. They were sorting, stacking and loading the mail!
They saw me and helped with my question. I was amazed at their spirit! Ho ho! Like the old saying: rain, sleet, snow, no power — the mail goes through! Thank you, postal workers! You are amazing!
