The Maine Women’s Giving Tree awarded more than $104,000 in grants to 15 area nonprofits at a May ceremony.
Each of the awardees went through an extensive review process to evaluate factors such as need and compatibility with the Maine Women’s Giving Tree mission.
The Maine Women’s Giving Tree is a group of women dedicated to making a positive impact in their communities by collectively serving women, children and families. Members pool their dollars and decide how to distribute those dollars through grants to nonprofits that align with the Giving Tree’s mission.
The Giving Tree is active in the Midcoast, serving towns from Wiscasset to Freeport.
The Maine Women’s Giving Tree awarded 2026 grants as follows: Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine, $5,000; Bath-Brunswick Respite Care, $3,000; Freeport Community Services, $5,000; The Gathering Place, $5,000; Growing to Give, $10,000; Habitat for Humanity/7 Rivers Maine, $10,000; Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association, $5,000; Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, $12,000; Midcoast Literacy, $6,000; Midcoast Maine Community Action, $5,000; Midcoast Youth Center and Skatepark, $7,500; Oasis Free Clinics, $6,250; Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, $15,000; Tedford Housing, $7,500; and Topsham Public Library, $2,735.
