Should Harpswell be honoring Mitchell?

My extended family and I have very deep ties to the wonderful community of Harpswell. We have been coming to and have owned property on Bailey Island since the 1800s, and we love Harpswell dearly. We care about its present and its future.

In light of recent revelations in the Epstein files about the relationship between George Mitchell and the notorious pedophile and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the Harpswell community may want to consider renaming Mitchell Field.

George Mitchell has been accused of misconduct by Virginia Giuffre and another victim. Other organizations have vetted the ample evidence and renamed scholarships, entities, etc. Should our community be honoring Mitchell by keeping the name “George J. Mitchell Field” intact? I think renaming Mitchell Field should be carefully considered by the community.
