Cundy’s Harbor church, pastor agree to 4-year extension

On Sunday, Feb. 23, Dr. Paul MacPherson, district superintendent of the Maine District Church of the Nazarene, was welcomed by the Cundy’s Harbor Community Church of the Nazarene for their morning worship celebration. After the celebration, MacPherson met with the church board to consider the continuation of the pastor-church relationship between the church and its lead pastor, the Rev. Veronica Gonsior. According to Nazarene policy, these reviews are to be held under the direction of the district superintendent every four years. The board unanimously elected Gonsior to serve another four-year term.

Gonsior has faithfully served the Cundy’s Harbor congregation and community since May 2007. Under her leadership, the church has become an integral part of the Cundy’s Harbor community. Events such as the annual Blessing of the Fleet, as well as ministries such as Quilts for Graduating High School Seniors, have become an important part of the church’s identity. More significantly, these ministries, along with many others, have allowed the church to be a faithful example of the love and compassion of Jesus Christ.

“This is a significant moment for the Cundy’s Harbor church and community,” MacPherson said. “The church is blessed by the leadership of Rev. Gonsior, and in turn, the church has become a blessing to the Cundy’s Harbor and surrounding community. The Maine District, and the Church of the Nazarene, is a better church and more faithful expression of the presence of Christ because of the ministry of Pastor Veronica and the Cundy’s Harbor Community Church of the Nazarene.”
