Christopher McIntire

Christopher Glenn “Grizz” McIntire passed away suddenly at his home on Orr’s Island on Nov. 20, 2025.

Dana N. and Susan B. McIntire welcomed Chris on April 3, 1993, in Brunswick. He was the grandson of Donald and the late Carolee Brown, and the late Justin and Louise McIntire; and the nephew of Charles and Gail Howard, Glenn McIntire and Marion Doyle, and Jim Brown. He is also survived by a sister, Anne McIntire; his in-laws, Melinda and Chuck Richter, and Peter and Betty Stone; and a sister- and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Dustin Bisson.

Chris attended West Harpswell Elementary School, Mt. Ararat Middle and High schools, and Maine Maritime Academy. He played hockey for more than 12 years, a defining aspect of his youth. He shared a love of skeet shooting with his grandfather Donald, and was a state junior champion several years. At 16, he won a Maine state championship in the 28-gauge division.

He was a member of the Elijah Kellogg Church, where he served as a trustee for many years.

On Sept. 19, 2020, Chris married Margaret Stone, and soon came Clifford, 4, and Marshall, 2. On weekends you could find Chris and his boys out in the skiff, spending Friday evenings on the wharf, or skating on Sundays as Chris became a hockey dad.

Chris lobstered his entire life. He got his student license at 7 years old, hauling out of a skiff built for him by Donald. He was a third-generation commercial lobsterman and was involved in advocacy for his industry at the state and local levels.

He was grounded, kind and gracious. He will be greatly missed by his family, the town and the fishing community.
