More than 60 fourth and fifth graders from across Maine School Administrative District 75 participated in the Noetic Learning Math Contest in April. The goal of the competition is to encourage students’ interest in math, develop their problem-solving skills, and inspire them to excel in STEM fields — science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
This spring, the competition was fierce, with 40,874 students from 816 schools across the country.
MSAD 75 students showcased not only their outstanding math talents but also their determination and perseverance in working through challenging problems. We are proud to highlight the following students from Harpswell Community School.
Team winners: Tommy Wrzesinski, fourth grade.
National Honor Roll (the top 10% of all participating students): Alden Neal, fourth grade; Vale Newberg, fourth grade; Tommy Wrzesinski, fourth grade; Youjia Wang, fifth grade.
National Honorable Mention (the top 50% of all participating students): Moses Murphy, fourth grade; Jack Stuart, fourth grade; Joao Balisi, fifth grade; Julia McGuire, fifth grade.
In addition, the MSAD 75 fourth grade team received the 10th highest score in the country. The team score is determined by an aggregate of the top six scores, three of which were logged by students from Harpswell.
Congratulations to all our participants and winners!
