The many blessings of Harpswell

These days, I’m more and more aware of the many blessings of living in Harpswell. We have spectacular scenery, Harpswell Aging at Home, the remarkable nonprofit Harpswell Anchor newspaper, my neighbors who are part of a vibrant local fishing community, and the fundraisers we’ve held for Ukraine each of the last three years.

I’m also grateful for the wonderful people at the Town Office and the services offered there. A year ago, I needed to have some trees removed but wanted to make sure they were on my property. I found that at the Town Office you can look at fascinating aerial photos and maps of your property. (And yes, they were my trees!) Then in April, I was driving home, looking for a place to pull over to watch the solar eclipse. At the Town Office, I found the staff standing outside, enjoying the event — and they were completely welcoming when I joined them.

I find everyone at the Town Office to be friendly and knowledgeable. I am particularly amazed at the job done by our town clerks. We all know how challenging their jobs have become, and they do them with grace and patience.

Finally, I’m grateful for our state senator, Mattie Daughtry, and state representative, Cheryl Golek. They are blessings, too, and I will vote for them enthusiastically on Nov. 5.

So there you have it! I hope that shared blessings like these — and many others — will continue to bring us together.

Linda Kreamer, Orr’s Island
