Harpswell Boatbuilders, a wooden boatbuilding education program for ages 9-16, will build a 12-foot pram this winter.

Ann Flannery and volunteer assistants will instruct the class at Flannery’s wood shop in Cundy’s Harbor. The class will meet on Sundays from 10 a.m. to noon or 1-3 p.m., starting Jan. 23.

Participants will learn traditional boatbuilding skills, self-confidence and teamwork, all while having fun. Students must wear masks and a parent or guardian must sign a release form.

The cost is $140 for about 16 classes. Aid is available. For more information, contact Flannery at 207-751-9589 or annieflann@gmail.com.

The completed skiff will be sold to benefit the Holbrook Community Foundation, a nonprofit with a mission to protect Harpswell’s coastal heritage, support commercial fishing, and provide opportunities for education about the marine environment.
