It's June! When I was a full-time teacher (I still teach remotely), June meant that summer was here. It meant packing and returning home to Harpswell with my children to enjoy swimming, boats, trips to Katahdin, or lighthouses and picnics.

Brrr ... it's cold out there! As I write the March "Library Connections" column, we are preparing for the arctic blast and the kind of February weather I remember as a kid.

When you hear "book club," what comes to mind for you? Book clubs come in all sizes, ranging from the megaclubs of Oprah and Reese Witherspoon, which drive book sales for authors to glorious heights, to intimate groups of fewer than four.

What is a library? You don't have to pay to come in. You don't have to buy anything. You don't even have to read, if you don't want to. You can go just to think, or to be quiet. You can study or work there.
