Harpswell needs a community center

My wife and I went to the fundraiser for Ukraine that took place at The School House 1913 restaurant on May 10. It was heartwarming to see so many generous and caring people offering their support to this war-torn country.

Mainers have climate clout

It's easy to feel powerless when it comes to fighting climate change, but we Mainers have a reason to be optimistic. Maine is the only state fortunate enough to be represented by two senators, independent Angus King and Republican Susan Collins, on the bipartisan Senate Climate Solutions Caucus.

May we all be helpers

"Never Not Amazed: A call to helpers everywhere" (April) was a beautifully written piece on a particularly sad subject. Thank you, Erin O'Mara. May we all be helpers.

Sheila Venard

Sadly, Sheila Venard has lost her 20-year battle with breast cancer. She passed away at her home in Harpswell on April 25 in the presence of her husband, Bob Venard, and two daughters, Erin Venard, of Waltham, Massachusetts, and Emma Venard, of Phoenix, Arizona.

Something Harpswell could cherish

I'm a member of the Mitchell Field Committee, but I'm writing this letter as an individual. Before moving to Harpswell in 2016, I helped start a community center in a small town on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
