The Maine Women’s Giving Tree awarded $96,000 in grants to 16 area nonprofits at a May ceremony. Each awardee went through an extensive review process.
Recipients are as follows: ArtVan, $6,452; Bath Area Backpack Program, $4,000; Brunswick Area Teen Center, $5,050; Freeport Community Services, $4,500; The Gathering Place, $5,000; Growing to Give, $5,000; Habitat for Humanity/7 Rivers Maine, $8,071; Harpswell Santa Fund, $5,644; Home to Home, $6,048; Mawita’nej Epijij, $5,000; Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, $8,071; Midcoast Literacy, $5,000; Midcoast Maine Community Action, $5,000; Midcoast Youth Center and Skatepark, $6,048; Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, $12,117; and Tedford Housing, $5,000.
The Maine Women’s Giving Tree, a nonprofit, brings together women who are dedicated to making a positive impact on their communities by serving women, children and families. Members pool their dollars and decide how to distribute those dollars through grants to nonprofits that align with their mission. The organization is active in the Midcoast region of Maine, from Wiscasset to Freeport.
