Walk on the left

We live in South Harpswell, close to the end of Route 123. This stretch of road is popular with walkers, especially in the summer, but it is also busy year-round. A few nights ago, we were headed north and nearly ran into a person, dressed entirely in black, walking her dog. It was after dark. A few minutes later, there was another person, same conditions. They were both on the wrong side of the road. It’s obvious that many walkers are unfamiliar with the law — walk facing traffic. In other words, always walk on the left side of the road.

Please get the word out to those who love to walk, as do we, and remember — walk on the left.

Nancy Hurst, South Harpswell
