Orr’s Islander graduates from Naval Academy

Sadie Skinner, of Orr’s Island, has successfully completed four years of challenging academic, physical and professional military training at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. On May 23, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in ocean engineering with a minor in French, and she was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy.

Skinner is a graduate of Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham. At the academy, Skinner was a member of 27th Company and competed on the cycling team.

This summer, Skinner will report to the Navy’s Nuclear Power School in Charleston, South Carolina, for submarine-related training. Upon completion, she’ll serve as a submarine officer.
